Animal health or human health? Where does the problem lie with antibiotic resistance and overuse? The latest issue of my newsletter, The AgriNutrition Edge, looks at the issues surrounding the use of antibiotics in both animals and humans. In reality, the use of antibiotics for animals may be more highly regulated than use in humans. Farmers and ranchers’ goal is to ensure their meat animals are raised in environments that prevent or limit the need for antibiotics. And if antibiotics are needed, strict government guidelines and oversight are in place to limit/eliminate antibiotic resistance and residue.
