Summer is here! With lingering thoughts of Memorial Day, our attention now turns to those long-awaited outdoor summer activities: music festivals, long-planned vacations, garden-fresh produce and grills sizzling with burgers of all shapes and variety. Regardless of our plans, food is always part of our festivities. That’s a statement that’s never been truer than during my recent food and culinary trip through Provence. When beautifully plated and equally delicious food is placed in front of us, we realize that food feeds both the body and soul — sustaining us beyond the morsels on our tongues. Sustainable food is a frequent topic of discussion but a complicated reality. From bees to beef, and everything in between, food is sustainable only when it’s available and accessible as highlighted in this newsletter edition. Let us not forget that reality as we enjoy the delights of summer … and remember, June is National Dairy Month.
