
According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the independent advisory committee’s review, along with public and agency comments will help inform development of the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The next edition of the guidelines “will continue to focus on what Americans eat and drink as a whole to help prevent disease and keep people healthy” as well as “include recommendations for pregnant women, and children from birth to 24 months.” In addition to details about the first meeting, the USDA also announced that the committee will be led by Chair Barbara Schneeman, Ph.D., and Vice Chair Ron Kleinman, M.D.
