Fall is in full swing with combines running down our soybean fields and leaves turning to those welcomed reds and golden yellow. The signs of harvest from apple orchards to corn fields reflect the bounty that our farmers produce. But the availability of food doesn’t always ensure the neighbors around us have enough food or healthy options.
After 50 years, the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health convened in Washington, D.C., at the end of September to focus on the end game “to end hunger.” In this issue, read an overview of the Conference’s strategies and how making healthy food choices may get easier, as well as the Food and Drug Administration’s efforts to better define the term “healthy.”
